"Snort 1.8 has been released and is available at
http://www.snort.org/files/snort-1.8-RELEASE.tar.gz.

This version incorporates a number of major new features including
stateful inspection, a new high performance IP defragmenter and TCP stream
reassembler, tagging (record traffic from hosts that have been spotted
attacking),  several new output options, anti-evasion application layer
plugins, back orifice detection, enhanced protocol support in the rules
language, and a new high-speed unified binary output mode.
