G4U is great, it saved my life many times, but, i think you should enable the conv=noerror flag for dd. Even if only for advanced users.
I'd love to do that. I've been digging a bit, and the problem seems to be that the CPP symbol "SMALL" is defined when building dd with crunchgen, which disables that option. I haven't found the time to get rid of that behaviour (at least for a single program like dd) in the build process.
If you have any ideas (other than patching dd sources :), let me know. (My guts tell me this should work from the "list" file...)
